Convicted double killer who studied to become a noted prison lawyer

Jerry Rosenberg, who died on June 1 aged 72, served 46 years of a life sentence for the murders of two New York City police detectives, during which time he became the most celebrated prison lawyer in America, giving legal advice to the rioters at the notorious Attica prison in 1971; at the time of his death he was New York State's longest-serving inmate.
