Woman missing for almost 3 months found chained up 'like a dog' in metal container
A woman held captive since last Novemeber has been released after police heard her screams.
Kala Brown (30) was found chained inside a shipping container in South Carolina last November, having first gone missing in August.
She was imprisoned and raped repeatedly by Todd Kohlhepp, who summoned Ms Brown and her boyfriend to the site to “do a cleaning job” almost three months previous.
Police arrived at Mr Kohlhepp’s 95 acre property on November 3 last year, having traced Ms Brown’s last phone call to the area. Upon hearing screams, they broke into a shipping container on-site and found Ms Brown handcuffed and chained by the neck to the container’s roof.
Footage of the dramatic rescue has been released by police.
She is pictured lying on a makeshift bed with her hands behind her head.
The footage, taken with the body-camera of one of the policemen, shows them comfort Ms Brown as they search for something to cut the chain with.
When asked about her boyfriend, Charlie Carver, Ms Brown replied: “Charlie? He shot him.”
She told police: "Todd Kohlhepp shot Charlie Carver three times in the chest, wrapped him in a blue tarp, put him in the bucket of the tractor, locked me down here. I've never seen him again. He says he's dead and buried. He says there are several bodies dead and buried out here."
Mr Carver’s body was found in a shallow grave on Mr Kohlhepp’s property, along with two other bodies who were reportedly a married couple.
When arrested, Mr Kohlhepp confessed to the murders, as well as the murder of four people at a motorbike shop in a South Carolina town in 2003.
Police footage shows him bragging that he “cleared” the shop out and that the police would have been “real proud” of his efforts.
