Woman expecting a nine-baby boom

A Mexican woman is pregnant with nine babies -- six girls and three boys.

The woman, who was identified as Karla Vanessa Perez of the northeastern state of Coahuila, is currently being treated at a hospital in the state capital Saltillo.

Lampreys shipped in for a royal treat

A few invasive sea lampreys from the US Great Lakes have been shipped to England for use in a traditional pie for Queen Elizabeth.

The City of Gloucester requested 900g of the eel- like creatures because they're a protected species in England. The pie is for June's Diamond Jubilee, the 60th anniversary of the queen's ascent to the throne. The city has given the pie as a gift to the monarch since the Middle Ages.

New role has Firth 'overwhelmed'

Actor Colin Firth has said he felt "a little overwhelmed" by the enormity of the story to be told in his latest film, 'The Railway Man'.

The Oscar winner plays Eric Lomax, one of thousands of Allied prisoners of war forced to work on the construction of the Thai/Burma railway during World War Two. He said: "I did feel at times a little overwhelmed by the enormity of the story."

Adele has handed a prize to her manager at a major music bash -- and admitted she signed with him because he made a good cup of tea.

Arrest made in 30-year-old case

A man wanted in Italy on suspicion of murdering a police officer 30 years ago was arrested after being spotted queuing up in a London post office.

Gianfranco Techegne (49) has been wanted by the Italian authorities since 1982 over the armed robbery of a car hire agency in Naples where the police officer was shot.
