Who is Carrie Symonds?
Carrie Symonds was made head of Conservative Party PR aged just 29. Before this, she was a special adviser to now Home Secretary Sajid Javid during his tenure as Communities Secretary after being special adviser to John Whittingdale during his time heading up the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.
She is the daughter of Matthew Symonds, a co-founder of The Independent, and Josephine Mcaffee who was one of the paper's lawyers.
Ms Symonds graduated from the University of Warwick with a BA in theatre studies and history of art in 2009.
It was during her late teens that she says she suffered a traumatic ordeal at the hands of "black cab rapist" John Worboys.
She said the serial sex attacker preyed on her after offering her a taxi ride.
