Journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy has attracted both praise and criticism after he interrupted his own report on the refugee crisis to help struggling refugees ashore.
In the moving footage, Guru-Murthy is explaining to the camera what is happening as panicked refugees struggle to leave an overloaded boat and come ashore.
When a man carrying a child slips and fall, Guru-Murthy abandons the news report to turn and help them.
He explains what he's doing as he lifts babies out of harm's way and helps a group of men carry a paralysed man to safety.
Guru-Murthy finished the segment once all the refugees were safely ashore, interviewing by-standers and nearby witnesses.
He has been praised and criticised for his decision.
One Twitter user wrote that his work "has been truly outstanding" while another wrote that he "needs to remember that he is a journalist and stop his personal crusade".
