Victim of practical joke rescued from chimney cavity
The victim of a practical joke had to be rescued from a chimney cavity after he tried to outsmart his pranking friends.
The 23-year-old man realised he was locked out of his house, but decided to re-enter the house through the chimney. Very quickly, he realised he was stuck.
Firefighters took 30 minutes to rescue the 23-year-old man at around 3am, using power drills and sledgehammers to punch a hole for him to climb out.
The Phoenix fire department said the man "what proved to be a bad decision" by attempting to re-enter the house through the chimney.
Video footage shows the man emerging from the chimney cavity after the firefighters instructed him to stand up and back so they could weaken the casing using power drills, then punch through with a sledgehammer.
The young man finally emerged covered in soot and perhaps a little chastened
He was taken to hospital as a precaution.
