Toddler plunges 30ft as he is left unattended by escalator Newsdesk Newsdesk

A two-year-old had a lucky escape after he fell nearly 30 feet while copying his brother’s ‘escalator surfing’ antics in a shopping centre.

Surveillance footage at a shopping mail in China captured the terrifying moment when the young boy nearly died after he slipped while on the escalator’s hand rail and stuck the hard tiled floor more than two stories down.

The graphic video shows the tiny child climbing the escalator's handrail as he is left unattended before it catches his sleeve and pulls him over the edge.

In a second clip taken from cameras on the floor below, the toddler can be seen smashing on to the hard ground from above as shocked staff look on in horror.

The incident occurred at a mall in Dongguan in Guandong province in China on Tuesday.

According to local news agencies, the youngster is in a stable condition following several days of life saving surgery.
