Sweet-tooth bees make blue honey

BEES in northeastern France have been producing honey in mysterious shades of blue and green, alarming their keepers who now believe residue from containers of M&M's, which are processed nearby, is the cause.

Since August, beekeepers in Ribeauville, Alsace, have seen bees returning to their hives carrying unidentified colourful substances.

Prosecutor's case goes to pot

A NEW ORLEANS prosecutor could find himself facing a judge from the dock after a marijuana joint fell from his pocket in court.

The joint fell out while the 43-year-old lawyer was in front of three police officers. They laughed, and wrote a summons for pot possession.

New York overrun with alligators

AN alligator has been found in a supermarket car park on New York's Long Island, just a day after another alligator was discovered in the same place. They were captured and will be sent to a reptile sanctuary in Florida.

Officials believe someone dumped them there. It was the third sighting on Long Island in less than a week. Last Friday, an alligator was found crawling on the front lawn of a beach home.

Girl offers savings to get puppy back

A LITTLE girl is offering all the money in her piggy bank to add to a $6,000 (€4,648) reward for the return of her puppy, taken in a burglary in San Jose, California.

Michael Mabanag, the father of 10-year-old Marissa Mabanag, said his daughter offered the contents of her piggy bank because she "just wants her doggie back".
