Stripper teacher rebuked by board

A male teacher who moonlighted as a stripper and appeared in pornographic films has been found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct but left free to continue teaching.

Benedict Garrett (31) was given a reprimand in front of the General Teaching Council in Birmingham, England. The committee heard Mr Garrett had been stripping and working as a naked butler while teaching at Beal High School in Ilford, east London.

Tourist charged over site damage

A Jordanian tourist was caught carving his initials into a wall of Spain's Alhambra, considered a gem of Moorish architecture.

The man was charged with damaging a building classified as part of Spain's historic heritage. The Alhambra, in the southern city of Granada, is a Unesco world heritage site.

Stone-throwing teen shot with bow

A 16-year-old boy throwing rocks at a van got a shock when one of the occupants fired a crossbow back at him.

The teen was hit in the side and was taken to a hospital in San Diego, California. No one has been arrested.

Thief makes off with whale tooth

A man dressed in a black hat and dark coat has made off with an 8ft whale tooth from a museum in the Norwegian city of Stavanger.

The museum said the tooth was more than 100 years old and was valued at €8,000.

Town minting own money in protest

A small town in Italy is trying to mint its own money in protest at austerity cuts.

Filettino, around 100km east of Rome, is rebelling against a plan to merge governments of towns with populations less than 1,000.

Forgotten boy left in bus for 12 hours

An eight-year-old boy was locked inside a school bus for more than 12 hours in the German town of Cottbus after the driver forgot about him.

The boy got on the bus at his home but did not show up for school. After dropping the children off, the driver returned to the transport lot but did not notice the young passenger still on board.

Rapper in early release from jail

Rapper TI was released one month early from prison in Arkansas, US, yesterday where he was serving time for a probation violation.

The star, real name Clifford Harris, has a book deal and reality TV show lined up.
