A Birmingham woman who was killed in a crash involving a high-performance sports car has been named by police.

Noreen Ryan, 49, from Kings Norton, was a passenger in a blue Ford Fiesta when it was in collision with an Audi R8.

The driver of the Fiesta remains in hospital with serious injuries. A passenger from the Audi was also treated in hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The Audi driver, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the incident and released on bail while a full investigation is carried out into the crash.

The incident happened at the junction of Shaftmoor Lane and Reddings Lane in Hall Green, Birmingham, at around 11.30pm on August 26.

In a statement released by West Midlands Police, Ms Ryan's family described her as "the baby of the family and loved by all".

They said: "She was generous by nature, with a heart of gold. She loved a family get-together and will be missed by everyone."

West Midlands Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the crash to contact them.

Sergeant Chris Jones said: "Our deepest sympathies go to the family of Noreen. We are determined to establish the circumstances which led to her death and we are asking anyone who saw the collision and has not yet spoken to us to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101."
