Say cheese: Obama and Biden best buds for vice-president's first selfie

US Vice President Joe Biden has pitched himself against his commander-in-chief Obama and popular American TV host Ellen Degeneres in a bid for the biggest buzz around a ‘selfie’ of all time.

Biden took an opportunity to snap his first ‘selfie’ ever during a car journey with US President Barack Obama.

The post earned over 3,600 ‘Likes’ within half an hour of posting and currently has 20.5k thumbs up on the social media network.

The Vice-President also posted a snap of his visit to Pittsburgh with Obama.

Having joined the social network on April 16th, Biden already has over 44,000 followers on his account, simply named 'vp'. You can follow him here.

Biden took an artistic approach for his inaugural photo on Instagram, his Ray-Ban sunglasses taking centre stage as he sits in the background at his office desk.
