Russia accuses Syrian rebels of killing civilians in Aleppo
Russia's defence minister has accused Syrian rebels of shelling residential areas in the city of Aleppo.
Sergei Shoigu said more than 2,000 militants backed by dozens of tanks and armoured vehicles have launched attacks on living quarters, schools and hospitals in the government-controlled part of the city.
He also claimed the rebels had blocked civilians from leaving the rebel-controlled areas, killing dozens.
Rebels began an offensive on Friday to break the Syrian government's siege of the eastern part of the city, which has been under their control since 2012.
Mr Shoigu said that a Russian moratorium on conducting air strikes on Aleppo has now entered a sixteenth day.
