Quake hits near nuclear plant

A strong earthquake has struck Japan, near the nuclear power plant which was hit by a tsunami earlier this year.

There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The US Geological Survey said the magnitude-5.9 quake struck 62 miles east of the Fukushima nuclear power plant at a depth of 23 miles.

Lifeguard says Wood had chance

The lifeguard captain who helped pull Natalie Wood's body from the water nearly 30 years ago said he believed the actress could have been saved had a search begun earlier.

Former LA County supervising rescue boat captain Roger Smith said based on the condition of her body when they pulled her from the water, he believes she survived for some time and was blown out to sea.

Hulk Hogan settles divorce

Wrestler Terry Bollea -- better known as Hulk Hogan -- and his ex-wife have agreed a financial settlement in their divorce, court records show.

Linda Bollea received a little over 70pc of the couple's liquid assets. Ms Bollea filed for divorce in 2009.

Burglar blames victims in a note

A teenage burglar wrote a letter to his victim, blaming the householder for the crime and saying he felt no remorse, West Yorkshire police said.

The badly spelt letter read: "To be honest I'm not bothered or sorry about the fact I burgled your house. Basicly, it was your fault anyways."

A company selling "magical" talismans has been ordered to abandon claims that its jewellery can protect against fire, treat depression and even improve muscle tone.

Circle of Raphael operates a self-described "small esoteric talisman service" out of St Austell, Cornwall, selling talismans at £145 (€168) each.

Thief caught by thermal imaging

Police investigating a burglar alarm at a restaurant in Michigan used a thermal imaging device to find a suspect hiding in a pile of leaves. When the man was discovered he ran off again -- and jumped into a river, but was later arrested.
