Woman tells of sexual relationship with Allen when she was aged 16
An aspiring actress who had a sexual relationship with Woody Allen as a teenager has spoken for the first time about their affair, describing her shock to find that she partially inspired the character played by Mariel Hemingway in his film 'Manhattan'.
Babi Christina Engelhardt was 16 in 1976 when she began an eight-year relationship with Allen, who was 41 at the time. The age of consent was 17.
She approached the director in a restaurant in New York City and passed him her number. He called, and they began meeting regularly at his Fifth Avenue penthouse, even though he knew she was still at school.
Ms Engelhardt, now a 59-year-old divorcee, told the 'Hollywood Reporter': "I'm not attacking Woody. This is not: 'Bring down this man.' I'm talking about my love story. I have no regrets."
