Watch: Police officer jumps into pond to save young child from drowning Newsdesk Newsdesk

A police officer has been hailed a hero for jumping into a pond to save a young boy from drowning.

Officer Bulmer from Topeka police force in Kansas was patrolling the park area when he noticed a small child on his own.

The officer sprung into action after the boy (4), who has autism, jumped into the pond.

Officer Bulmer immediately jumped into the water and brought the four-year-old to safety.

Medical services were called to the scene and the child was brought to hospital.

Topeka police said that the child's parent had been searching for the boy and the pair were reunited.
