A violent fight that broke out between a group of adults at a high school graduation was caught on camera by a surprised by-stander.

Parents became embroiled in a vicious brawl as 500 graduating high school students marched into the Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee.

The conflict was reportedly sparked over seating, when parents of the Arlington high school students attempted to take seats saved by a party of five in the church.

Speaking to US News channel WREG, Octavius Adams, who captured the video, said: “A family of five wanted to sit in a certain area and the family of two came and disrupted that area. They wouldn’t move so they pretty much stood their ground.

“They felt entitled to those seats. I don’t know what was special about them but they wanted them.”

The scuffle was quickly broken up by church security, who can be seen restraining one of the women in the video. When asked why she had hit another parent, the woman replied “I didn’t hit you”.

It is not said to have affected the graduation ceremony.
