Donald Trump outperformed Hillary Clinton in one aspect of the debate: Twitter conversation
He may not be winning in the polls that matter, but Donald Trump did dominate one area during last night's debate: Twitter mentions.
Figures released by the social media giant revealed that Trump dominated the Twitter polls: Some 59% of Twitter debate conversation about the two candidates was related to Mr Trump.
The top tweeted moments of the debate were Mr Trump and Mrs Clinton discussing the treatment of women; Mr Trump refusing to say he will accept the election results; and the discussion about Russia and nuclear weapons, with Mrs Clinton calling Mr Trump a "puppet" of Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Mrs Clinton gained 13,000 followers during the debate while Mr Trump gained 6,000 followers.
The top retweeted tweet was from Donald Trump's account, which read: "Do you think Putin will be going to The Miss Universe Pageant in November in Moscow - if so, will he become my new best friend?"
The tweet had gained more than 43,900 retweets an hour after the debate.
The most tweeted-about policies during the debate were, in order, foreign affairs, the economy, reproductive rights, terrorism and immigration.
