Donald Trump said that the North Korea will be met with "fire and fury" if it threatens the United States.

Speaking at a press conference in New Jersey on Tuesday, Trump addressed the ongoing crisis between the US and North Korea.

"North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States," he told reporters. "They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen."

"He has been very threatening... beyond a normal statement," he said of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. "As I said, they will be met with fire, fury and frankly power the likes of which the world has never seen before."

His comments came hours after it was revealed by CBS that North Korea had successfully created a miniaturised nuclear warhead designed to fit inside misiles.

On Tuesday morning Trump took to Twitter to say that the US needs to be "tough" on North Korea.
