A two-year-old boy has died after getting his head stuck in a car window.

Logan Vanderkleed (2) from Indiana in the US, was sleeping in an air-conditioned van while his dad, Drew, was cleaning out another vehicle next to him.

According to his mum, Lisa, the toddler rolled down the automatic window and accidentally rolled it back up again.

His head became trapped. He was reportedly not breathing when he was found and was without a pulse for a significant amount of time as medical personnel gave him CPR.

The toddler was airlifted to hospital and underwent surgery but later died in his mother's arms.

“I felt a strong urge to hold Logan,” his mum Lisa wrote on Facebook. “He just wanted his mommy. Moments after I got him, he took his last breath.”

Doctors were able to preserve his heart valves for a future donation.
