Rock star Marilyn Manson crushed by prop on stage during New York show
Marilyn Manson was rushed to hospital last night after he was crushed by a stage prop during a show in New York city.
The singer was filmed attempting to climb two large guns held together with metal scaffolding during a performance of Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These) at the Hammerstein ballroom.
However, footage appears to show the temporary structure collapse on top of Manson (48).
Rolling Stone reports that after stage crew lifted the prop back up, Manson lay on the ground for several minutes. Paramedics rushed to the backstage area as venue workers yelled "Ice! Ice!" repeatedly.
An eyewitness told the BBC that fans at the concert "instantly freaked out".
Anthony Biscardi said: "He was performing the [Eurythmics] song Sweet Dreams. Towards the middle of the song it seemed as though he tried climbing onto a prop.
"The first touch of weight on those poles and it came crashing down onto him."
Mr Biscardi said the performer was "pretty limp, almost as though he was unconscious".
An announcement was made that the concert had been cancelled "due to injury".
A spokesman told reporters that Manson was being treated at a local hospital.
The extent of his injuries are not known.
The artist has just started his 'The Heaven Upside Down Tour and was due to perform in Boston on Monday night.
