The reality TV star whose son (6) beat his 13-day-old sister to death while unsupervised in a car park was already under investigation for abuse, it is being reported

Florida Child Protection Services had contacted Kathleen Steele just three days after her daughter, Kathleen Bridget Steele, was born.

The baby had already been admitted to a local hospital on July 29, three days after her birth, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The baby had bleeding on the brain, but there was no sign of any abuse, according to media reports.

Ms Steele had claimed that the baby received a knock to her head after she fell out of her carrier when the former reality TV star tripped on the stairs.

A follow up interview had been scheduled to take place on 1 August. However, the baby was beaten to death by her sibling before a follow up meeting could take place.

The newborn baby, Kathleen Bridget Steele, was just 13 days old when she died last Monday afternoon.

Her mother, Kathleen Steele, who once appeared on reality TV show, I'm Pregnant and 55 Years Old, was arrested after police learned she had left the three children without adult supervision for 38 minutes while she visited a mobile phone shop in Florida.

The six-year-old was left with the newborn and his brother (3) after his mother went into the shop.

According to police reports, the six-year-old had tried to calm the baby when she started to cry.

However, as he showed deputies with a doll later, the boy repeatedly slammed the newborn's head into their mini-van's ceiling when she wouldn't stop crying.

"It was one of the worst things I've ever seen," Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri as reported by the Tampa Bay Times.

According to police reports, the boy (6) tried to tell his mother about the condition of his sister, who he had placed back in the car seat before the mother returned.

The boy is alleged to have told his mother the injuries were “serious” but his concerns were disregarded.

Steele's two youngest children were born through artificial insemination, using her husband's frozen sperm. Her husband died of cancer in 2011 and Steele had been raising the children alone.

The boy will not face criminal charges and has been placed in therapeutic foster care, along with his brother (3). "The mistake is with the adult Kathleen Steele, not a 6-year-old boy," Gualtieri said.

Steele and her husband appeared on an episode of the reality TV show titled 'I'm Pregnant and 55 Years Old' in 2009.

Steele appeared in court Friday and was released on $100,000 bail.

A judge placed Steele under house arrest, required her to wear a GPS monitor and to stay away from kids.
