Melania Trump will not join her husband at the Camp David presidential retreat this weekend, marking 22 straight days without a public appearance by the First Lady.

Mrs Trump was last seen in public on May 10 and underwent surgery for a "benign" kidney issue on May 14, spending a few days in hospital before being released. Her non-appearance at events she would normally attend has triggered frenzied conspiracy theories in the US media.

But she addressed them on Wednesday, writing on Twitter: "I'm at the White House [with] my family, feeling great and working hard on behalf of children and the American people."

Mr Trump will spend the weekend at Camp David - where he rarely goes, preferring instead his Florida resort. But the White House confirmed that Mrs Trump will not be with him. It is unclear when she will next appear in at a public event.
