In pictures: Inside the first Trump Christmas at the White House
The first Trump Christmas at the White House is underway and it is as understated as one might expect.
Among the festive decorations are a 350 pound gingerbread house, 53 Christmas trees and lights that stretch for 18,000ft.
A statement from the White House declared first lady Melania Trump to be involved in selecting "every detail" of the decoration and she unveiled the decorations and kicked off the festive season with an in-house performance of the Nutcracker.
The White House has always been decked out for the holidays but there has been a decided return to the theme of Christmas this year with the installation of the Trump family.
Before taking office Trump vowed to "end the war on Christmas" and this year the first family's card reads: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
