President Donald Trump threatens to 'destroy' the career of a Texas state senator on camera
President Donald Trump threatened to "destroy" the career of a Texas state senator in a meeting with sheriffs from around the country on Tuesday.
The group had been discussing the practice of civil forfeiture, a practice where law enforcement officers take money or assets from people who haven't necessarily been charged with crimes.
Sheriff Harold Eavenson of Rockwall County, Texas cited an unnamed state senator who backed a law making civil forfeiture illegal until a person has been convicted of a crime.
Trump replied, "Do you want to give his name? We'll destroy his career," to which the group erupted in laughter.
