Police rescue 'frozen elderly woman' from car who turns out to be a mannequin

Police in New York broke a car window after reports that an elderly woman had frozen to death in a car, only to find a mannequin.

According to ABC7, police received a call from a member of the public who saw an elderly woman frozen inside of a car.

Police broke into the car and found an unresponsive woman wearing an oxygen mask.

The car was covered in snow which froze overnight.

The police offers got the fright of their lives when they realised the woman was actually a mannequin, with hair, teeth, age marks and skin.

When alerted the car owner said he was a medical professional who used the mannequin for his job.

No charges have been pressed according to ABC7.
