A woman has been arrested after she allegedly pulled her young son's teeth out with a pliers in a supermarket bathroom.

Prosecutors in Utah claim the mum (47) bought hand sanitiser and needle-nose pliers from Walmart on April 2 and then used them to pull out two of the boy's teeth.

Police in American Fork say that her older child her the boy (7) screaming and alerted a Walmart employee.

Official documents say the boy said one of his teeth was loose but the other was only slightly loose and he cried the whole time.

Sergeant Cameron Paul said: "When she proceeded to extract them, they didn’t come out in one whole piece. There were multiple pieces.
"So that illustrates that they were still very attached to this child’s mouth."

The woman allegedly didn't use any kind of anesthetic.

She has been charged with second-degree child abuse.

The woman has not been named to protect the identity of her son.
