Hillary Clinton launches new political group 'to encourage people to run for office'
Hillary Clinton has launched a new political organisation.
The former Democratic presidential nominee unveiled Onward Together, whose name is a riff on her campaign theme Stronger Together.
It aims to empower Democrats and liberal groups building a network of candidates in the 2018 mid-term polls to oppose President Donald Trump.
Mrs Clinton tweeted that she was launching the group "to encourage people to get involved, organise, and even run for office".
The former secretary of state is not expected to rejoin the Clinton Foundation, the primary focus of her husband and daughter.
In another tweet, she said she has been "reflecting, spending time with family - and yes, taking walks in the woods".
The 69-year-old recently described herself as a "citizen activist".
