A headless body was found in a home beneath 4ft of rubbish, believed to belong to the missing owner of the house.

Police searched the home after an anonymous tip-off that there might be a body inside and had to use chainsaws in order to get through the house, according to the Chillicothe Gazette.

Police found a headless body at the home in Ohio that was "so badly decomposed" that they couldn't determine the gender.

While no evidence of foul play was observed at the home, police are awaiting the results of an autopsy according to the Gazette.

There are indications that someone had been in and out of the home, which police described as a “hoarder’s house.”

According to NBC, neighbours haven't seen the owner of the house Charles Kaltenbach, for over six months. They said he would sometimes sleep in the street or in his truck instead of his soiled home.

While police did not confirm the identity of the body, Kaltenbach’s cousin, Patty Shacklford, says she’s sure it’s him.

“It’s sad. He was the only person living in the house,” she told NBC.
