A deranged father tried to flush his baby down a toilet during a bizarre family fight about childcare.

Dennis Gateley (31) was arguing with the mother of his six-week-old son about childcare at a home in Pittsburgh on Tuesday August 2, when he pulled out a gun, police told

After a fight with the mother, Gateley allegedly grabbed the baby and shoved him head first down the toilet.

He hit the baby’s head against a wall, tossed his crib down a staircase and screamed “I’m going to kill them!,” witnesses told CBS Pittsburgh.

Trying to protect the mother and baby, the family dog viciously attacked Gateley.

The mother managed to grab the baby, run outside and call police but Gateley refused to come out of the home when a SWAT team arrived, according to CBS.

The standoff lasted two hours before Gateley surrendered and was arrested.

The baby was treated at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC but it was unclear how seriously he was injured Tuesday afternoon.

The mother suffered a black eye and Gateley was treated for the dog bite at a different hospital.

He was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats and endangering the welfare of a child.

After he was arrested Gateley allegedly told two cops, “I could have picked either one of you off at any time. I had the advantage, because I had the high ground,” according to CBS
