A 38-year-old dad was found dead four days after he vanished from a fishing trip with his young son.
Matthew Meinert went missing from the Grapevine Lake in Texas where he was on a fishing trip with his son Oliver.
Police received a 911 call on Monday March 6 saying his fishing boat had been discovered on the shore of the lake.
Two-year-old Oliver was found on Tuesday wandering on his own with cuts and scratches. He was taken to hospital and was reunited with his mum Autumn.
On Friday night, after an extensive search, Matthew's body was recovered from the water.
Trophy Club Police Department confirmed the discovery.
A statement read: "At approximately 5.58pm on Friday, March 10, 2017, 38-year-old Matthew Meinert was discovered deceased in Denton Creek by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
"The Tarrant County Medical Examiner has scheduled an autopsy and the cause of death is pending. No foul play is suspected.
"Game Wardens recovered the body in approximately 6 feet of water near the area Meinert’s boat was located on Monday, March 6, 2017. "
A Go-Fund-Me page has been set up to help support the family.
"It is something you can do to give back to Matt, Autumn, Oliver, and the entire Meinert family to show support for them as they endure this nightmare that is their reality," the page reads.
"If you know Matty, then you know what an amazing soul he is. Gregarious, charming, kind hearted. His love for his family is one of his most admirable qualities."
