A 2-year-old boy died on the day before Thanksgiving after the window of his dad's truck closed on his neck, a coroner's office has said.

McCarson Allen Porter died from asphyxiation after his neck got caught between the window and frame of his father's pickup truck, WSPA reported.

The tragic accident happened in Clinton, South Carolina.

The boy's father started the truck to warm it up before he left for work on Wednesday.

He went to retrieve his tools from his home and when he returned minutes later, his son was unresponsive with his neck caught in the rear window.

The toddler was then transported to hospital, where he later died.

Oconee County Coroner’s Office ruled his death an accident on Friday.

On Facebook, the toddler’s father pleaded for prayers after the incident, and relatives set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the boy’s funeral costs.
