THE United States is withdrawing part of its Special Forces presence from Pakistan, as relations between the countries continue to deteriorate after the US raid to kill Osama bin Laden.
General Ashfaq Kayani, the head of the Pakistan military, said he had ordered the Pentagon to reduce its military presence in the country to the "minimum essential". A Pentagon spokesman confirmed that the US had been "notified in writing" of the request.
The demand came as a suicide bomber killed 24 people in the north-western town of Hangu, one of many revenge attacks since Bin Laden's death. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
