25 people killed in suicide bombing attack by Islamic State in Yemen
A suicide bomber has detonated his explosives among policemen standing in line outside a police base in the southern Yemen city of Mukalla, killing 25 people, according to security officials.
The blast injured 17 more including young men applying for jobs with the city police.
The Yemeni affiliate of Islamic State claimed the attack in a statement posted by sympathisers on social media networks.
The officers were returning to work following last month's recapture of the city by forces of the internationally recognised government.
The port city had been held for more than a year by Yemen's al Qaida affiliate.
