Libya resists re-opening of Lockerbie bomb case
LIBYA has declared the case of the Lockerbie bombing effectively "over" – even as both the British and American authorities seek to launch fresh investigations into the atrocity.
"The matter was settled with the Gaddafi regime," said Salah al-Marghani, the Libyan justice minister.
However, British police are conducting inquiries in Libya in an attempt to restart the investigation into the 1988 bombing that brought down Pan Am flight 103 over Scotland, killing 270 people in the air and on the ground. The US government has also shown renewed interest in the case. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
