Kate names boy 'Bear'
Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet has named her new son Bear.
The 38-year-old, who gave birth at a Sussex hospital earlier this month, has two children from previous marriages but this is her first with new husband Ned RocknRoll. A publicist for the star confirmed the baby's first name but declined to give further details.
CUSTODY FIGHT TRAGEDY
A man involved in a custody dispute apparently threw his three-year-old son off the roof of a 52-storey Manhattan apartment building before jumping to his death.
Police found the bodies of 35-year-old Dmitriy Kanarikov, of Brooklyn, and his son Kirill on the rooftops of two nearby buildings. Mr Kanarikov was pronounced dead at the scene and Kirill was declared dead at a hospital.
Burglars have made off with an unusual but seasonal haul after they stole packaged turkeys from a farm.
Thieves took eight birds, worth around £800 (€955), from a large chiller at a farm in Ocle Pychard, Herefordshire, which were packed and ready for the oven.
SANTA CAUSES PANIC
A man dressed as Santa Claus caused panic at a US school when he knocked on school windows and entered the building.
Staff at Hollis Primary School in New Hampshire called police after they saw him waving at pupils. He ran off but later contacted police to say he was only trying to spread "holiday cheer".
IT'S PANCHO CLAUS
The US state of Texas has its own Hispanic Father Christmas called Pancho Claus.
Born from the Chicano civil rights movement, his rise has coincided with a growing interest in Mexican art, Cinco de Mayo, Mexican Independence day. Each city's Pancho has a unique local flavour, but all share roots that set Pancho apart from Santa.
