Jill Biden, wife of US Vice President, has broken her wrist
TV viewers watching the State of the Union address saw some breaking news - Jill Biden arriving with a plaster cast on her left arm.
The wife of US vice president Joe Biden, who broke her left wrist last week after slipping and falling, sported a camouflage-patterned cast draped in a purple scarf - the first time she has been seen in public with the cast.
The vice president's office said Mrs Biden would probably be in plaster for about six weeks. It said the icy weather blanketing much of the US was not responsible for her fall.
In addition to her duties as America's second lady, Mrs Biden teaches at a community college and is an advocate for military families.
