Jackson health probe

An investigation into Paris Jackson's well-being has been ordered by a judge overseeing the guardianship of Michael Jackson's three children, court records show.

Superior Court judge Mitchell Beckloff ordered an investigator to look into Paris Jackson's health, education and welfare after she was taken by ambulance from her family's home after a report of a possible overdose. The family have not released any additional details.

MONSOON DEATHS HIT 27

The death toll from strong winds and monsoon rains across Sri Lanka's coastal areas has risen to 27, while another 29 fishermen are missing, the government said.

The navy was searching for the fishermen and more than 32 boats that are missing since heavy monsoon rains and winds hit early yesterday, said Pradeep Kodippili, a spokesman for the government.

TIGER ACUPUNCTURE

Vets are trying acupuncture to cure a Sumatran tiger at an Israeli zoo. The 14-year-old tiger, named Pedang, suffers from a chronic ear infection.

A holistic medicine professional yesterday tried acupuncture on him, pricking him with several pink needles in his ear and at other points of his body. The Zoological Centre of Tel Aviv-Ramat Gan said this was the first time it used Chinese medicine on an animal.

WOMEN FOUND DEAD

British police said two women found dead in a house together were mother and daughter. The bodies were discovered at the property in Cumbria yesterday morning and a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Cumbria Police named the victims as Alice McMeekin (58) and her daughter Kathryn Jenkin (20), of Aberdare, Wales. They were discovered in Ms McMeekin's terraced home in Newton Street, Millom.
