An Irish soldier who was left homeless with his wife and young children has been offered a "house for life" after the family made a heartbreaking appeal.

The family from Co Kildare, who have remained anonymous, includes four children under 11. The father has been a soldier for 17 years, while his wife works part time. Now they hope to get the keys to their new home in Kildare town next week.

After reading their story, a housing agency contacted the couple last week with the offer of a home. "It's a house for life," the woman said. "We're super, super happy."

Previously the family told the Irish Independent that they were struggling to get by on their salaries.
