Irish girl has been left heartbroken

AN IRISH schoolgirl has been left "heartbroken" by the sudden death of her hero Whitney Houston.

It was just two years ago that the US superstar picked Zena Donnelly, from Blackrock, Co Dublin, out of the audience in the O2, to sing her anthem 'The Greatest Love Of All'.

"We tried to break it to Zena gently, but the minute we said Whitney had passed away, the child exploded into tears. I have never seen Zena so devastated," her mother Darina Ni Chuinneagain told the Irish Independent.

The Dublin mother said her daughter (9) has also been upset by coverage of the 48-year-old's death.

"All the reports gave a negative impression about the last few years of Whitney's life but that night in the 02 only happened two years ago," Ms Ni Chuinneagain said.

Dublin-based actor Hope Brown, who worked alongside Ms Houston in 'Waiting To Exhale' said the singer's death was "sad" but "you saw it coming".
