In brief: Skier trapped six hours in chair lift
A 22-year-old German skier was hospitalised with hypothermia after being trapped for six hours in a chair lift that had been closed down for the night, police said yesterday.
The man got on the lift 20 minutes after closing time on Saturday evening to descend to the Kaltenbach-Hochzillertal ski resort in the Austrian Alps. At that time, the lift was still running for maintenance, but it was shut down shortly afterward. The German was finally found at around 11pm after a friend had reported him missing.
Anti-suicide nets for Golden Gate
The agency that oversees the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco plans to erect an anti-suicide barrier.
