In Brief: Minister's wife dies

The wife of an Indian minister was found dead yesterday at a luxury hotel in New Delhi after a controversy over her husband's alleged affair with a Pakistani journalist. Indian news agencies reported that the cause of Sunanda Pushkar's death was believed to be suicide.

The marriage of the 52-year-old Pushkar and her husband, junior minister Shashi Tharoor, made headlines when she allegedly tweeted that her husband was having an affair.

CLARKSON APOLOGISES

'Top Gear' host Jeremy Clarkson has apologised "profusely" after a photograph was posted on his Twitter account showing him sleeping next to a piece of paper with an offensive message on it.

The image, which appeared on his online account which is followed by 2.8 million people, appeared to have been taken on a plane. It showed a piece of paper with the words "gay c***" written on it and an arrow pointing towards Clarkson. It's not clear who took the photo, which shows his 'Top Gear' sidekick James May in the background.

GANG RAPE ARRESTS

Indian police say they have arrested three more people accused in the gang rape of a 51-year-old Danish tourist in New Delhi. A police statement says those taken into custody include one juvenile. The other two are aged 20 and 24, and both are homeless.

Yesterday's arrests raised the number of accused attackers in police custody to six. Police said they were closing in on at least two others allegedly involved in Tuesday's attack near a popular shopping area. Police said the tourist was raped at knifepoint after she approached a group of men looking for directions back to her hotel.

KABUL BOMB KILLS 13

At least 13 people, including both Afghans and foreigners, were killed in a suicide bomb attack on a popular Lebanese restaurant in the centre of Kabul yesterday, police said.

"More than 13 people were killed, Afghan and foreigners," said Mohammad Zahir, Kabul's police chief. The nationalities of the foreign casualties were not immediately clear.

TWO STUDENTS SHOT

POLICE have captured a boy who shot two students at a Philadelphia high school.

The shooting happened at the Delaware Valley Charter School in north Philadelphia yesterday afternoon. It's the second US school shooting this week. A 12-year-old boy opened fire on Tuesday in a New Mexico school gym, wounding two classmates.
