BOB Holness, best known as the genial host of hit BBC quiz 'Blockbusters', died yesterday in his sleep, aged 83. He had suffered a number of strokes.
His roles on 'Call My Bluff' and as host of 'Blockbusters' made him a household name in Britain. The quiz, which ended in 1993, featured student contestants answering trivia questions based on the letters of the alphabet.
A feature of the show saw Bob trying to keep a straight face despite facing sniggering students asking him: "Can I have a P please Bob?" -- a question he claimed never to be fed up hearing.
