George and Amal Clooney donate £780,000 to fight hate groups
George and Amal Clooney are donating a million dollars to help the fight against hate groups.
The couple announced that their Clooney Foundation for Justice is supporting the Southern Poverty Law Centre with a million dollar (£780,000) grant to combat hate groups in the US.
George Clooney said in a statement that they wanted to add their voices and financial assistance to the fight for equality.
He added: "There are no two sides to bigotry and hate."
The Southern Poverty Law Centre monitors the activities of more than 1,600 extremist groups in the US and has used litigation to win judgments against white supremacist organisations.
Last month, the Clooney Foundation announced a 2 million dollar (£1.55 million) grant to support education for Syrian refugee children.
