Fruity thieves in strawberry haul

A TONNE of strawberries has gone missing under cover of darkness after a daring raid at a farm in Austria.

Thieves cut down a fence in Kalsdorf, near Graz, during the night and stripped 10 rows of strawberry plants bare. Police said the fruit was worth an estimated €2,400.

Wolves kill woman at wildlife park

A PACK of wolves attacked and killed a worker in their enclosure at one of Sweden's most popular wildlife parks yesterday.

The 30-year-old woman's body was recovered after staff entered the enclosure at Kolmarden park, north of Stockholm, and shot all the wolves.

Israelis float idea to expand territory

ISRAELI politicians are floating an idea to expand their seaside country -- by creating artificial islands. The cabinet voted yesterday to explore options for adding artificial islands to make room for infrastructure like water-treatment plants, power plants and an airport.

Most of Israel's eight million people live on a narrow strip along the Mediterranean coast, and the country is running out of space there. Even cemeteries are beginning to bury the dead in multi-level structures.

Cowell and Hitler 'most recognised'

SIMON Cowell and Adolf Hitler might not seem to have much in common, but the unlikely duo have topped a poll to find the most recognisable faces in history. A survey of 1,000 adults found 943 could identify the 'X Factor' supremo, one less than the 944 who named Hitler.

The poll, commissioned by tv channel Yesterday, was less kind to Lady Gaga who was recognised by just 705 people.

NY nightclub shut down after brawl

POLICE have shut down a New York City nightclub where singer Chris Brown and rapper Drake's entourage got into a bottle-throwing brawl.

Chris Brown, his girlfriend and his bodyguard were among eight injured during the fight inside the WiP club in Soho last week. Police said members of Drake's entourage stopped Brown as he was leaving. The fight escalated and bottles were thrown.

Woman (63) mows down 30 people

A 63-YEAR-OLD US woman was arrested by police after driving her car into a crowded town square, injuring about 30 people.

Over 1,000 people were in the square in Lima, Ohio, for a music event when the woman drove into the crowd.
