Four killed at service for Karzai's brother
A suicide bomber killed four people, including a senior cleric, when he detonated explosives said to have been concealed inside his turban during a memorial service for the assassinated brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
The Red Mosque in Kandahar was packed with dignitaries and family members praying for Ahmed Wali Karzai at the time of the blast, witnesses said.
Maulavi Hekmatullah Hekmat, the head of Kandahar's clerical council, was killed. At least 15 people were wounded.
Hamid Karzai was not in the mosque, his spokesman said.
No one has admitted responsibility for the attack. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
