Woman's body found in suitcase near school
MURDER detectives in London are investigating the death of a woman whose body was discovered inside a suitcase dumped in woodland near a school in a quiet suburban area.
Officers were called to the scene in Hendon, north west London, on Sunday evening and residents said forensic teams combed the area until the early hours of yesterday.
But police said they had found out little else about the woman by last night.
Officers confirmed that one line of enquiry would focus on the identity of the person who called in the report but refused to release any further details.
Murder Squad DCI Nicola Wall said: "We have a body in a suitcase, we have moved it and we have not got the body out. We are working as hard as we can to find out who's in that suitcase and how they came to be in there.
"There is a family out there and we don't want to unnecessarily worry people. We are doing our best to find out lines of evidence there are at this time."
A statement released by the Metropolitan Police Service said the woman was white and an adult but gave no other details.
The body was found hidden amongst trees beside a brook next to playing fields and a primary school, which was open yesterday.
The area was cordoned off while murder detectives in boiler suits investigated.
