A 55-year-old woman was beaten in her own home by robbers who snatched her three pug puppies.

One of the raiders had posed as a buyer who wanted to look at the eight-week old pedigree pets worth £1,500 (€2,091).

Liz Swain from Abergavenny, South Wales, told The Sun newspaper how the man wanted to take the dog outside to show his “daughter”.

However, when she refused, the man returned to her door with an accomplice and she was punched in the face.

The two men then fled with the puppies.

“I’ve never known anything like it,” Liz told The Sun. “It was terrible. My poor dog has gone and I am still shaking.”
