Walkers discover body
BRITISH police searching for an architect who disappeared more than a week ago said walkers found the body of a young woman near a golf course early yesterday.
Avon and Somerset Police said it was too soon to say whether it was Joanna Yeates, the 25-year-old who went missing on December 17 after going to a pub to meet colleagues.
A couple walking their dogs found the body on a roadside verge in the village of Failand, north Somerset, a few miles from her flat in the Clifton area of Bristol.
Det Supt Jon Stratford said: "It is far too early to be able to establish the identity of the body or the cause of death.
"I can confirm Joanna Yeates's parents have been informed of this development. They are naturally very, very distressed and our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time."
Police had released security camera images of Ms Yeates buying groceries on the night she disappeared as part of their attempts to find out what had happened to her.
Her parents, David and Theresa, made an emotional televised appeal for help in finding their daughter.
