Vatican cracks down on fraud

THe Vatican yesterday finally bowed to pressure from the European Union and implemented legislation to make money laundering a crime.

The new rules will include a measure requiring people carrying more than €10,000 in cash into or out of Vatican City to declare the amount with Vatican officials. The Holy See is seeking to embrace greater financial transparency after scandals involving its bank.
