'Uncouth' bride appears in upper-crust magazine
A BRIDE has come up with the perfect riposte to her mother-in-law who attacked her "staggering uncouthness and lack of grace" -- she has appeared in the pages of 'Country Life'.
Heidi Withers, the 29-year-old who married her fiance Freddie Bourne last weekend, has remained relatively magnanimous about the character assassination by his stepmother Carolyn.
But, in a case of "revenge is a meal best served cold", she graced the pages of the so-called 'girls with pearls' section of the upper-crust magazine -- following in the footsteps of Princess Anne, her daughter Zara Phillips and more recently the Duchess of Cambridge.
Miss Withers hit the headlines last summer when a critical email by her future mother-in-law went viral on the internet.
Mrs Bourne (60) described Heidi's "staggering uncouthness and lack of grace" before suggesting that she attend a finishing school to correct her "bad manners".
She even described her future daughter-in-law as "an ideal candidate for the 'Ladette to Lady' television series".
Ms Withers, a PA from Fulham, west London, has come up with the perfect slap in the face. She appears tastefully dressed in a blue overcoat and patterned scarf.
One of Miss Withers's ancestors, William Withers, was Lord Mayor of London in 1707.
